DWHC Annual Report 2024

The annual report, which covers all DWHC activities in 2024, is now available (in Dutch). It extensively discusses the monitoring and surveillance of diseases in wildlife in the Netherlands, knowledge development, and knowledge sharing.

In 2024, a total of 2,618 forms to report a dead wild animal were completed, 1,186 for insight in mortality and 1,432 for submission for post-mortem investigation. Of these, 372 were collected and examined at the DWHC. These included 226 mammals, 139 birds, 6 reptiles, and 1 amphibian (figure 1). In addition, 346 dead wild birds were sent to the WBVR in Lelystad for avian influenza testing. We would like to sincerely thank everyone for reporting and submitting these animals!
